We had some great volunteers hand out water at the City of Trees Marathon in Boise.  It was a great day to support our

Moppet Togs - Volunteering and Raising Awareness

Moppet Togs Fall Sale
September 28, 2012
Moppet Togs is a huge children's clothing consignment sale held in Boise twice a year. We were given a "vendor's table" at the Fall sale, so that we could begin our efforts to raise awareness locally about our new Ben Towne Foundation Boise Chapter, and about the need for funding for pediatric cancer. Thousands of people consign and purchase children's clothing at the sales over four days. We put together a tri-fold with information about pediatric cancer and about Ben Towne Foundation. We had a chance to talk with many people as they waited in the check out line. Danielle and Martha shared BTF brochures, information sheets, pens and bracelets with the hoards of shopping parents. We met people who had personal experiences with pediatric cancer - as well as many who had no idea about the lack of funding specifically for pediatric cancers. Moppet Togs also supports charities each season and we hoped that eventually we might be able to be one of the charities they would choose to support.

A Birthday Celebration - Martha and Langley

Langley's and Martha's birthdays for Ben Towne Foundation
July, 2012

My granddaughter had “caught the excitement” of the new Boise Chapter of Ben Towne Foundation! Here’s her story about how we decided to celebrate our buddy-birthdays this year by honoring her dad – and Ben! Her friends brought donations for BTF, instead of presents, to her party, where the girls rode the bus and had an art tour of Boise, including BAM and different displays in the city.
“I heard about Ben Towne from my mom. She told me the story of Ben’s cancer and that he died when he was just three. I felt pretty bad. One of the reasons I wanted to raise money to help find a cure for cancer like Ben’s is because of my dad, Cory. He had brain cancer and he died when I was just two years old. So this year, for my 9th birthday, I asked my friends and my family to please give me money for Ben Towne Foundation instead of giving me any presents. My Grammy and I always celebrate our birthdays together. She decided to do the same thing. Together, we received $625 that we sent to Ben Towne Foundation. Grammy and I really hope they find a cure for cancer so that someday, no one has to lose someone they love to cancer.”
